In 2010, I decided that the time was right for a short-term adventure; having taught high school history and English literature in the western suburbs of Melbourne for a couple of years, it became clear that God was leading me elsewhere. So, I applied as a volunteer for an eighteen month teaching position at a little international school in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's capital. I'm now the sole English teacher, and I get to teach the most delightful kids in the world. Mostly, they're the children of expat NGO families. Though I teach in the English language, I'm also learning Russian so that I can navigate daily life in this ex-Soviet republic. I love to write, and this blog is an outlet for me to record my experiences and reflect on God's faithfulness, as well as a useful way of keeping in touch with folks back home.
My older blog can still be found at in-the-woodshed.blogspot.com.
